Task 1 : Speaking Material of Analytical Exposition




The speaking material for the 11th graders of SMA 1...


Before we start, please prepare a recorder, a video camera or a hand phone to make a documentation of your progress.

Activity 1

A. You will be given some pictures then make a short monologue correspond to each picture and make sure that your monologue is still on the analytical railway. You can brush up and learn more about analytical exposition by CLICKING HERE





B. Record your monologue and submit your work to afone_bralink@yahoo.com

A. Listen to the first audio file below then complete some missing words of the script.

Activity 3

A. Watch the video and pretend you are a reporter then try to retell the information you get. Don't forget to use your video camera.







B. Work in a group of three. Create a dialogue of analytical exposition by choosing the following controversial issues. Act it out and record your performance using a video camera. Submit your task to afone_bralink@yahoo.com

STRENGTHS
1. He told the students what they have to prepare before doing the speaking test (recorder & video camera).
2. Well-organized speaking task.
3. He told the target students of the speaking test, that was 11th grader of Senior High School.
4. He provided the students with audio and video modeling, and it can be played directly without download it first.

WEAKNESSES
1. Unclear instruction in Activity I: You will be given some pictures then make a short monologue correspond to the them (should be to them) and make sure that your monologue is still on the analytical railway. It is unclear, whether the students should make a short monologue for each picture or combine the two picture to make a monologue.
2. There is no further exercise for the students to develop their speaking ability on analytical genre.

SUGGESTIONS
1. It would have been better if you gave clear instruction to your students.
2. It would have been better if you gave further exercise so that your students can develop their speaking ability with self-study.
